Today, Visual Concepts showed off a stunning new trailer and screens for the new-gen version of NBA 2K21, and we have one thing to say: wow! Between the impressive dribbling moves and ultra-realistic player models, this is as close as it gets to actually being on the court and in presence of greats like Steph Curry and Luka Dončić.
Not to be confused with the current-gen iteration that launched back in early September, this edition was built from the ground up with the new consoles in mind, and it shows. The footage was captured on a PS5, but rest assured the game is also coming to Xbox Series X/S.
"Never before have we been able to deliver this level of visual fidelity and realism in a video game," stated Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts. "NBA 2K21 is the standout title that best delivers the promise of next-gen: truly revolutionary graphics, lightning-fast load times and incredible new features and gameplay only possible on next-generation hardware."

In a press release, Visual Concepts touted the following enhancements for new-gen:
- A leap in graphical advancements: next-gen lighting, textures, physics, animations, and more that push NBA 2K21’s visual presentation to the bleeding edge
- Rebuilt player movement and player impact, driven by new on-court animation and collision engines that make for a smoother, tougher game
- The entire arena comes to life, with more than 150 unique A.I.-driven characters interacting seamlessly to create a groundbreaking lower bowl experience
- An expanded soundtrack with 202 songs at launch and more to come.
Starting tomorrow, Visual Concepts will be breaking down more about the new-gen version's improvements and features via three Courtside Reports. Expect these reports to cover the core gameplay, the new movement and the "Impact Engine," as well as the A.I. and major changes to the MyPlayer builder. Then in the coming weeks, you can look forward to learning more about what's new for the main modes, like MyCareer, MyGM, and MyLeague. We'll also finally find out more about the increased WNBA content that the developers have been hinting at. And then just to keep our heads spinning, Visual Concepts left us with big tease, saying it will reveal more soon about what it's calling, "the biggest expansion of NBA 2K’s online basketball community feature yet," referring to this as "the experience formerly known as the Neighborhood."
NBA 2K21 hits Xbox Series X/S on November 10 and launches on November 12 for PS5.
